Deus é um artista. E o Rio, a sua obra-prima. A primeira pincelada foi azul: o mar. A tinta verde espirrou na tela e se espalhou por uma grande área: a floresta. Depois vieram as montanhas e mais água correndo por elas: as cachoeiras. Nesse cenário, eram necessários personagens especiais. Foi aí que nasceram os cariocas com seu bom humor: quando o asfalto chegou, a paisagem não mudou. Afinal, o Rio tem a maior floresta urbana do planeta. De sua área total, 18% é puro verde. Só o carioca tem o privilégio de voltar do trabalho pela orla da praia, com o sol morrendo atrás do Morro Dois Irmãos, para nascer depois, ainda mais bonito, no Arpoador. E quando chega o fim de semana pode escolher entre 83 km de praias e centenas de cachoeiras para passear e se refrescar. Ou caminhar na Lagoa, saltar de asa-delta, velejar, escalar uma montanha. Tudo isso sem ir para longe de casa. É por isso que o Rio é incomparável. E a natureza, um espetáculo único no mundo.

CENTRAL DO BRASIL

É a estação de trens mais conhecida do Brasil. Construído em 1858 para inaugurar a linha da Estrada de Ferro Central do Brasil a, "Estação do Campo". Com o tempo teve seu nome alterado para estação da Corte e, mais tarde, Dom Pedro II. A estação hoje se chama Central do Brasil devido à antiga ferrovia extinta em 1971 por decisão da RFFSA (Rede Ferroviária Federal S.A). Este já era o nome informal da estação, e passou a oficial depois das filmagens do filme a que esta deu nome, que teve cenas rodadas na estação e concorreu ao Óscar, com Fernanda Montenegro na disputa pelo prêmio melhor atriz, em 1998.

O prédio foi reformado anos mais tarde e finalmente demolido nos anos 30, para dar lugar ao atual, em razão das obras de eletrificação e expansão do sistema. Dela hoje saem trens de diversos ramais, ligando o Centro aos demais bairros da Zona Norte e Oeste do Rio de Janeiro, e também aos municípios da Baixada Fluminense, inclusive o ramal de Saracuruna/Gramacho, do qual originalmente saíam da garagem de Barão de Mauá, por pertencerem à antiga Estrada de Ferro Leopoldina.
