Deus é um artista. E o Rio, a sua obra-prima. A primeira pincelada foi azul: o mar. A tinta verde espirrou na tela e se espalhou por uma grande área: a floresta. Depois vieram as montanhas e mais água correndo por elas: as cachoeiras. Nesse cenário, eram necessários personagens especiais. Foi aí que nasceram os cariocas com seu bom humor: quando o asfalto chegou, a paisagem não mudou. Afinal, o Rio tem a maior floresta urbana do planeta. De sua área total, 18% é puro verde. Só o carioca tem o privilégio de voltar do trabalho pela orla da praia, com o sol morrendo atrás do Morro Dois Irmãos, para nascer depois, ainda mais bonito, no Arpoador. E quando chega o fim de semana pode escolher entre 83 km de praias e centenas de cachoeiras para passear e se refrescar. Ou caminhar na Lagoa, saltar de asa-delta, velejar, escalar uma montanha. Tudo isso sem ir para longe de casa. É por isso que o Rio é incomparável. E a natureza, um espetáculo único no mundo.

MONUMENTO AOS MORTOS

O Monumento aos Mortos da Segunda Guerra Mundial, popularmente conhecido como Monumento aos Pracinhas, localiza-se no Aterro do Flamengo ao próximo do Museu de Arte Moderna (MAM). O monumento foi inaugurado em 1960, abriga e homenageia os restos mortais dos militares brasileiros que haviam sido depositados no cemitério de Pistoia na Itália, à época do conflito.
A plataforma elevada, que atinge 31m de altura. O conjunto é integrado por três obras:
1) Escultura em metal que homenageia a Força Aérea Brasileira (FAB)
2) Escultura em granito que homenageia os pracinhas das três armas (Exército, Marinha e Aeronáltica).
3) Um painel de azulejos que homenageia os mortos (civis e militares).


The Monument to the dead of World War II, popularly known as the Monument toWorld War II Soldier, located in Flamengo Park near the Museum of Modern Art(MAM). The monument was inaugurated in 1960, honors and holds the remainsof the Brazilian military that had been deposited in the cemetery of Pistoia in Italyat the time of the conflict.
The raised platform, which reaches 31m high. The set consists of three works:

1) metal sculpture that pays homage to the Brazilian Air Force (FAB)
2) granite sculpture that honors the three small squares of the weapons (Army,Navy and Aeronáltica).
3) A panel of tiles that honors the dead (civilian and military).
